After six years at UM, I am nearly ready for the next stage of my career. It's been interesting searching for postdocs and trying to gauge what sort of work I am or am not qualified to do. It's also interesting to see how many positions there are for people interested in functional traits and community ecology. I had thought that the study of functional traits was becoming less popular over time, but I stand corrected! Perhaps it's just that I am so deeply involved in population level studies that I had become biased. In any case, I am ready to start a new project and am hopeful that I will be able to find something by the time I graduate, if not shortly thereafter. Wish me luck!
